AWR has had a chance to interview AA Auto Protection! We have a basic list of questions we run through when given this opportunity (which most auto warranty companies seem to shy away from… shady!). Here is the interview – AWR gives a big thumbs up to AA Auto Protection.
What makes your company unique?
AA Auto Protection was the first company to post all of the contracts it offers in full, online. So there’s never a question about what our customers are actually being offered. We also unique in having our Privacy Protection Guarantee, which means we never buy, sell, or rent consumer information. Finally, we’re the only company that operates a department exclusively devote to following-up with sold customers, to make sure everything is okay, and to answer any questions. We also have chosen to remain totally independent, and have steered clear of flashy endorsement and affiliation, both of which incur serious costs that are ultimateley passed down to the consumer. We know other companies engage in those kind of gimmicks, and their customers pay the price. We prefer to stake our success on our professionalism and reputation.
Please briefly explain your claims process:
As a broker, AA Auto Protection isn’t involved in claims, which is handled by our contract providers. But with all of them, the claims process is easy: Customers take their vehicle to their favorite licensed repair facility, and ask the shop to diagnose the problem. The shop then contacts the administrator, and submits the claim. If the problem is covered and approved, then the shop performs the work. After the repairs are completed, the shop calls the administrator again to receive payment by credit card, minus any applicable deductible. The customer’s job is just to take the car to the shop. The shop’s job is just to call the administrator twice, once for approval and once more to get paid. That’s it.
Do you offer financing on your extended service contract? How many
payments can be made?
Yes, no-interest, no-cost, no-credit check payment plans are available, for up to 15 months, and with as little as 10% of the purchase price as a first payment. Our payment plan prices are identical to our paid-in-full prices.
When a customer’s car needs to be fixed, where do they take it?
Customers are welcome to use any licensed repair facility throughout the US and Canada. (Editor: This is a BIGGIE guys, make sure that any warranty you decide on offers this crucial feature. Any reputable company will offer this – stay away from those that do not!)
Please briefly describe your basic contract. If you have different levels of service, please describe those.
We offer a full range of options. The most comprehensive plan is exclusionary, meaning that only parts not covered are listed. The most basic are powertrain plans, which cover engine, transmission, and drive axle assembly. And there are many others in-between. Really, we offer so many options that the plans can practically be customized for a customer’s needs.
Do you offer free quotes? How do we go about starting that process?
Absolutely. No-obligation free quotes are available by visiting our website, https://www.aaautowarranty.com/quote.asp , or reaching us by phone at 888-222-4445, option 1.
What is a common mistake that people make when purchasing an auto
warranty (vehicle service contract)?
Great question. By far the biggest error is not thoroughly reviewing the contract being considered prior to purchasing it. Although the contracts aren’t long, parts are complicated, and it’s impossible for a consultant to go over every detail with customers. That’s why it’s important for customers to take advantage of the opportunity to read the proposed contract before spending any money. The next best thing is to take some time during the 30 day money-back-guarantee review period after purchasing to make sure the contract is completely suitable. (Editor: That’s the first I’ve seen a 30 day money guarantee in this business – not too shabby
Do you offer any special warranties, for other vehicles (boats, motorcycles) or otherwise?
From our beginning we’ve specialized in plans for automobiles, and that’s what we still do today. But speaking of special plans, coming very soon AA Auto Protection will be one of the few, and certainly the largest, vehicle service contract agency to be fully licensed, insured, and authorized by the State of California to offer mechanical breakdown policies. Companies that aren’t approved by CA can only sell product warranties. We’ve chosen not to offer to product warranties in CA. We just don’t believe in them.
Any final thoughts on why your company is the one to go with?
There’s a lot of strong friendly competition out there. We feel that AA Auto Protection should be the customer’s choice because we are among the oldest – online since 2004 but operating many years before that -, because we never engage in high-pressure sales, because we are founding members of the Vehicle Protection Association (an industry consumer protection organization), because we offer only top-tier administrators with excellent ratings and reputations, because of our Low Price Guarantee, because we operate as a full-disclosure company, and finally, we like to think that we’re nice people to work with. We don’t rely on expensive endorsements from spokesman who aren’t familiar with what we do, and we don’t depend on other agencies like the BBB, or other pay to play organizations, to speak for us. We’ve been successful and have a strong reputation because we take our customers’ needs very seriously, and work hard to serve them well.
There you have it folks – now it’s time to let us know what You think of

My grand mother called this car warranty organization, and basically they said and that they (the I called this auto warranty organization, and basically they told me and that their parent company was the one who would send it an that they would not be the ones sending me a contract either. So, to that aspect of this, I was kinda like – why is’n't it you yourselves sending it? Does that mean I can get a better bargain from the group that actually quotes it to my car? themselves would not be the ones sending me a contract at all. So, yep at that point I got involved…my dad is sort of older…to that, I was sorta like – why is’n't it you yourselves sending it? So let me get this straight – can get a better deal from the business that actually quotes it to my situtation? Robin said it best – there’s nothing at all no replacement for a good vehicle contract repair warranty. However, it’s not best to hastily rush into some contract with just any group. Kathryn I think was the person name said – it didn’t matter much at all, but that he’dwould like to have my business. So, in other words that’s sort of where it ends for me.
